Eric Yang is a senior mechanical field engineer at Amazon web services, helping AWS data center become more energy and water efficient. Before he joined AWS, He was a development leader of federal business unit at Energy System Group. He has led and developed over $85 million energy performance projects range from $3 million to $50 million for federal government, higher education, K-12 schools, and medical facilities, including overseeing the development and optimization of large central plant, thermal storage analysis, CHP projects, and control upgrades.  Mr. Yang is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).  In addition to the CEM, Mr. Yang holds several other certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers, ASHRAE, and USGBC.  Mr. Yang is also a licensed professional engineer in VA/MD with 17 years of industry experience.

Mr. Yang currently serves as subcommittee chairs on the Technical Committee of ASHRAE 7.6 Building Energy Performance and ASHRAE 7.5 Smart Building Systems.  He also serves as an Industry Advisory Board Member of U.S.-China Energy Research Center Building Energy Efficiency at Lawrence National Berkeley Laboratory.

He was recognized as “Energy Engineer of the Year” in Region II (2016) and received “Outstanding Customer Care” award from United Technology Corporation. He has multiple publications in ASHRAE, including an article in ASHRAE Journal (2016) that championed an energy efficient ground-source heat pump system located in the soil of a Virginia Beach school yard.
