Tour of Joint Base Anacostia – Bolling
South East Chapter
August 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is a 905-acre (366 ha) military installation, located in Southwest, Washington, D.C., established on 1 October 2010 in accordance with congressional legislation implementing the recommendations of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The legislation ordered the consolidation of Naval Support Facility Anacostia (NSF) and Bolling Air Force Base (BAFB), which were adjoining, but separate military installations, into a single joint base, one of twelve formed in the country as a result of the law.
For the past several years, energy resilience, reliability and conservation measures of various kinds have been installed in several locations throughout the base, including parking lots. The implementation of Executive Order 13834 (Efficient Federal Operations) has been front and center with a variety of challenging initiatives underway. In addition, a number of renewable energy generation projects have been installed with the goal of supporting the Department of the Navy’s initiative to reduce fossil fuel generated energy consumption, provide renewable energy, and optimize the use of impervious parking surfaces.
As mentioned in the registration Email, there are special security considerations for the upcoming event at Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB).
