AEE NCC: Introduction to Green Banks

South East Chapter

January 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Please join us for our first event of 2024! In this informative virtual event we’ll be looking to discuss Green banks:

Green banks utilize strategies to mitigate risk to entice investment by capital providers who might not otherwise do so, and to buy down the cost of capital in an advantageous manner for targeted consumer audiences to achieve decarbonization and climate justice outcomes. They act as a bridge between government, industry, utility and academia to facilitate partnerships for desirable outcomes.

Green banks do not accept deposits and do not act in the manner that regulated banks do. Green banks DO leverage public funding to crowd-in private capital for targeted investment to achieve environmental goals and desired outcomes. These entities may fund project design, development, management and/or operation.

Importantly, green banks can target investment in underserved communities in order to assist consumers without the profit motive characteristic of traditional capital providers.
