Offshore Wind Energy Production with Dominion Energy

South East Chapter

June 18, 2021 @ 12:00 pm

Dominion Energy is developing the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind commercial project – a 2,640-megawatt wind farm planned for a 112,800-acre lease area that begins 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach and extends an additional 15 miles East into the Atlantic. CVOW will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power up to 660,000 Dominion Energy Virginia customers’ homes. CVOW is a critical resource for meeting the Commonwealth’s objective of carbon-free energy by 2045 and our own goal of net zero carbon dioxide and methane emissions across our footprint by 2050. Kendra Pickard is the Dominion Energy subject matter expert responsible for the coordination of the detailed engineering and design of the CVOW-C offshore substations and high voltage electrical cables. Kendra’s previous experience includes both design and operations of subsea infrastructure for offshore oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. She has a BS in Civil Engineering and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
