Join us on Friday, July 17th to learn about exciting recycling methods being used in our own neighborhoods, counties and states. From large scale advanced recycling systems, composting on a regional scale to methods of converting waste to fuel and power with a zero waste and low GHG impact – we will be engaging with our local experts on how to move from a throw away economy to a more sustainable future.
Melissa Filiaggi is the Recycling Manager for Maryland Environmental Service. She oversees a variety of recycling related programs, including the marketing of commodities from two large MRFs in Maryland. Melissa is currently the President of the Maryland Recycling Network.
Ben Parry is the owner and CEO of Compost Crew, the DMV’s leading organics recycling company that serves almost 5,000 businesses, municipalities and homes, from Baltimore, MD to Woodbridge, VA, and from Dulles, VA to Bowie, MD. Ben is a business executive and entrepreneur fighting to protect the health of our planet. He built his career in the renewable energy industry, helping start a solar power developer in India, and most recently leading a business that owned solar and wind assets across five continents. In July 2018 he took on a new challenge by acquiring Compost Crew, which has almost tripled in size over the past two years. Ben has an MBA from Georgetown University. He lives in Maryland with his family of five.
With 17 years of professional experience, Matt Mason has with proven success in the commissioning of building mechanical systems. He has a strong background in Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning engineering across a variety of building and system types. As a Senior Field Engineer, he has built upon his technical skills thorough hands-on mechanical system interaction. Matt is known in the New Jersey Engineering marketplace, based on his passion and his technical expertise for system optimization.
